Chapter 1: Dreams or Illusions?

It was quiet in the dark tower that lay on the bay. The stars were bright and the moon shone like a large searchlight. The citizens of Jump City were all snug in their homes, sleeping or relaxing and watching late night television.

One inhabitant of Titans Tower was researching on his computer; Beast Boy, the Jokester of the Teen Titans, was browsing files of the Titans’ latest villains.

For the past few nights, Beast Boy was having dreams that he hadn’t told his friends of. Beast Boy didn’t know what the dreams even meant.

As Beast Boy turned off his computer and started to drift off to sleep in his bed, that same sensation he had each night since his dreams started came back again. He tried best to ignore it, but when he finally drifted into oblivion, he realized he was falling from the roof of the tower, going straight for the water.

He landed in the water and drifted down to the bottom. He landed on his feet. He stepped forward and a flock of birds flew away, startling him and revealing a very tall platform in a dark room with very little light.

He looked around. Then a voice was heard all around the vast darkness.

So much to do, so little time…

Take your time

Don’t be afraid

The door is still shut

Now step forward

Can you do it?

Beast Boy walked forward. He stopped as three objects, a sword, shield, and a magic rod, appeared on pedestals.

Power sleeps within you

If you give it form…

It will give you strength

Choose well

Beast Boy reached for the sword, but hesitated. His hand closed around the hilt. His other hand held the blade. He stared at the sword with interest.

The power of the warrior

Invincible courage

A sword of terrible destruction

Is this the power you seek?

Yes

The sword disappeared. Beast Boy looked around, but couldn’t find it anywhere.

Your path is set

Now what will you give up in exchange?

Beast Boy walked over to the magic rod and picked it up.

The power of the mystic

Inner strength

A staff of wonder a ruin

You give up this power?

Yes

It too disappeared from his hand.

You’ve chosen the power of the warrior

You’ve given up the power of the mystic

Is this the form you choose?

Beast Boy hesitated.

The pedestals sunk in the floor. The platform started to break at the edges.

Crash!

The platform was destroyed. Beast Boy started to fall towards another platform with a woman wearing a blue dress. He landed perfectly on his feet.

The sword appeared in his hands.

You’ve gained the power to fight

Beast Boy swung the blade.

All right! You’ve got it

A black creature with antennas appeared in front of Beast Boy from the floor.

Use this power to protect yourself and others

There will be times you have to fight

Keep your light burning strong

Beast Boy got into a proper sword-handling fighting stance. A few more creatures appeared and attacked Robin. He swung his sword at them. After three hits each, the creatures were killed.

Then another black creature appeared behind Beast Boy.

Behind you!

Beast Boy spun around and attacked the creature. Five more appeared suddenly and attacked. Beast Boy managed to kill them all. Once all the creatures were destroyed, darkness covered the platform around him. The darkness pulled him to his knees. He disappeared through the darkness.

Beast Boy continued to thrash around on the floor. He stopped, sat up, and looked around; he was on a platform with three hearts on the floor with a door in front of him. He walked to the door and tried to open it.

I can’t open it

A chest appeared on his right. He walked over to it and the sword reappeared in his hand as he approached. He hit the top of the chest with the blade, opening it. It disappeared and a large box appeared behind him. He went over to it.

Beast Boy pushed the box forward. Then he destroyed it with his sword. A purple item came out of the crate. He picked up the item and gained a potion. It somehow magically disappeared, which astounded Beast Boy. The outer layer of the door glowed and it appeared. Then a large barrel appeared behind him. Beast Boy also destroyed the barrel. The door glowed and appeared. Beast Boy walked up to it and it opened, revealing a blinding white light inside. His sword disappeared magically.
