Smith in the centuries after war has taken to be not only the negative of the One, but his gaurdian. Smith watches over the young reincarnation of Neo, raises him, protects him. But Smith's end is coming.

In the beginning there were more innocent times, but such innocence and joy were taken away. Then there was only the time of pain. Brown and Jones, when they lose everything, even each other.

I always imagined Neo becoming the vessel of the Source and thus the Machine God. I saw that his skin would glow, and his eye sockets would shine having lost his eyes. I saw his plugs lighting up to reveal wires through his veins. I saw him speaking to Machines. But we can always dream and draw I suppose.
