The Cruentus (Part 1 in the Hawolin Chronicles)

Names Katalina Bryon. Call me that and i'll rip out your throat. I go by Kat. Me and my bestfriend and caretaker Normana Dirge aka Nora are creatures of the night. We go by many names Owenga, Ch'ing Shih, Brucolak, Vampiro, Striges, Talamaur in other words we are vampires. Not the kind you see from the movies. Sunlight won't kill us we just have fair skin and burn fast. Crosses don't hurt us they just remind up of the first vampire hunters.and  holy water, that was just a joke we played on people to let them think they could control us. Our senstive noses can't stand the smell of garlic. A stake through the heart well that would kill anyone. So technally we are not the vampires in movies. Yes we are fast, strong, and each of us as different powers we call gifts. And of course we drink blood, but to call us a vampire is like insulting us. We are not that weak

 Chapter one

Most people don't follow people in to strange places yet thats exacactly what I was doing. I was following my bestfriend. She keep disappering late at night. I've asked her about but I get no anwser. I can't take it anymore. I hate to not be told things. I waited until she left around midnight like she usally does. She left the house with out saying a word. I watched as she walked toward town. This confused me. Nora is one of the laziest people in the world for her to walk into town which is a 15 min walk. I knew something was up. I have my hoodie and and hat down low. I was gonna wear sunglasses but that would have made me look like a creepy stalker. I was ducking behind cars everytime she looked back.

Im kind of like a spy wait focas were did she go

I looked up to find I lost her. I ran from my hiding place and started to fast walk looking for her. Then someone came out from the around the corner and ran into me. I started to panic thinking I just ran into Nora.

"Sorry! Sorry! Sorry! I wasn't following you I was just going for a walk. I was kinda hu....."

"Kat!" I looked up in to big hazel eyes not like Nora'a brown-ones. I let eyes adjust and saw that I had run into Brandon, one of my few human friends. He noticed that he was still on top of me and quickly got up and held a hand out to help me up.

"Kat, what are you doing out at this time of night."

"Well I got hungry and was on my way to the store" I said quickly telling the story I had come up with incase I got caught. I looked up at Brandon eyes pleading that he would buy it. He held my gaze questioningly for awhile causing me to blush. Lucky for me he couldn't see due to the darkness.

"Whatever just becareful you never know whats out here at night."

What does he mean by that ?

I look past him to see Nora come out of a store. I quickly push Brandon into an alley.

"Hey what was that for."

"What... Oh I uh....uh....uh.." Glanced at my wrist "Would you look at the time. I better get going"

He looked at me like I was crazy " Your not wearing a watch...... you know what nevermind. Since your here I should tell you I won't be at school for a while."

"What. Why?"

"Me and Sam's fams' are going to go on a vacation cruise. You know they've known each other for a while and well my parentals have a couple weeks off."

"How long are you gonna be gone."

"I don't know exactly like two weeks or so." I look up again and Nora was a receding dot.

"Well see ya when you get back." I gave Brandon a quick hug and speed down the sidewalk. When I finally caught her, she was going into a non-humans club called le Atra. Its a club only for non-humans and thier guests. Its open 24/7 but most only come at night. I waited a minute before following her into it. I've only been in here once. I was hunting a human when another vampire came on my kill and I followed him into here. It was a not happy time since there are so many creatures I lost him and almost got taken by a warlock.

I looked around and saw Nora go into a backroom. I slid past some werewolves ducking the faries and pixies fighting over which was better. I walked closed toward the room. I could bearly make out the converstarion she was having. I peeked behind the curtain. Nora ran up and hugged a boy around my age probably a year older. He had dark hair was a little past his ear in a mess. Not that nasty mess that makes you wonder if they take baths but that sexy mess that makes you want to run your fingers through it. I put my face closer through to the curtian.
