"Prime Example"

TEASER

FADE IN:

EXT. MOON'S SURFACE (OPTICAL - STOCK FOOTAGE)-

ESTABLISHING SHOT -- LIGHT - "FIRST MOON LANDING" -

From a distance; A large, flat Lunar Plane is well lit

by the O.S. Sun from beyond the Left side of OFF SCREEN,

and the surrounding mountainous horizon is SEEN in the

distance; A stark contrast to the Blackness of Space,

above. A LUNAR LANDER ("Apollo" type) rests just LEFT

of CENTER SCREEN, and casts a long shadow across the

white ground towards Center Screen. TWO ASTRONAUTS are

barely SEEN as They MOON-WALK away from the Lander inside

It's shadow, nearing the "tip". Their BREATHING is HEARD

(only) from Their "radio transmitters" as They WALK;

Both in Apollo-type Suits, faces obscured by the mirrorlike

reflection of their Face-shields! #2 carries a

Flag (wrapped) Pole, and #1 some camera Equipment! --

Suddenly; From a much closer (same ANGLE ON:) to the

brightly lit Area near the tip of the shadow, the 2 O.S.

Astronauts are HEARD (only) as they approach from the

O.S. Left direction and the ENTER SHOT already talking!

ASTRONAUT #1 (Colonel

Neilson Armstone) (O.S.)

Well

, Colonel "Bud" Alderman; at least

 

the ground out here IS loose dust...

as we had thought...

but FIRM?!...

We

won't sink through it?!... (BEEP)

 

ASTRONAUT #2 (Colonel "Bud"

Alderman) (O.S.)

Heh-heh-heh; That's a BIG "Ten-Forty",

Colonel Neilson Armstone!...

for YOU;... The way you fell on

your

ass, like that?! . . . (BEEP)

 

ASTRONAUTS #1-NEILSON ARMSTONE & #2-"BUD" ALDERMAN ENTER

SHOT from O.S./S.R. while talking via Radio Transmissions.

ASTRONAUT #1 (chuckling,

embarrassed)

Yeah-hah-hah; Lucky... we're on a

"Delayed Broadcast", because of the

"Ruthians";... so we could "re-stage"

the "First Steps" sequence of our

Lumar Mission!... The Ruthians and

"the

Press" would have a field-day

 

with

THAT?! I can see the Headlines,now!... "U.F.A. Astronaut falls off

Lumar Lander, and onto his BUTT

!";Heh-heh-heh!... (BEEP)

and They REACH the Area outside the tip of the shadow,

and STOP... #1 is Carrying a Camera and Tripod. #2 is

Carrying a 4 ft. long Pole with a "Flag" wrapped tightly

around one end. Then; a "Third Man's" VOICE is HEARD! --

HOUSTONE CONTROL (O.S.)

Lumar Lander; Apollo Crew? This is

Houstone Control;... If you two will

stop YACKING, up there?!... And, TRY

to

get the "Flag Planting sequence"right... the FIRST time, okay?!...

(

BEEP)

ASTRONAUT #2

Affirmative

, Houstone Control!...O.K., Colonel Armstone; You go setup our Camera, over there;...

(POINTS toward CAMERA)

and

I'll plant the flag, here; Ten-Forty?!... (BEEP)

ASTRONAUT #1

Affirmative, Colonel "Bud"...Alderman; Roger Wilcox!... (BEEP)

and #1 WALKS 20 meters towards CAMERA to STOP just in

front, TURN, and SET UP the Camera and Tripod; Aiming it

back towards #2, who is WATCHING Him; as He READIES the

Flag and Pole! #1 WAVES towards #2 "Ready", He signals. --

ASTRONAUT #1

. . . O.K.! I'm ready when you are,Colonel Alderman?! . . . (BEEP)

and #2 WAVES back, and begins UNFURLING the "Stars &
