Mignola sketch in black and white
Mignola sketch from the book "Hellboy: Odder Jobs"
This is typical of Mignola's style in black and white, with its almost woodblock print quality.

Upright and reversed meanings presented as haiku: Further notes: Another card that has more than can be presented in a single poem. The esoteric function of 'humor' can definitely serve the purpose of lightening up one of the deck's darker cards.

Even if it's not exactly the same, this looks very similar to something I once saw from a bus running along the desert highway to Aqaba. There is something truly exotic about the moon shining over such a truly empty expanse.

Once again, this is connected more to the original comics. Hence, the spelling of the name as 'Bruttenholm'. It is still pronounced as 'Broom'. This would be taking place somewhere in Europe in 1980. Hellboy would be around 36 years old and has taken a leave of absence from the Bureau to travel the world with his lover, archaeologist Anastasia Bransfield. Bruttenholm does not approve.

Cool!
I love how this does look like a carving done in wood or maybe on glass (mirror).
Re: Cool!
As far as I know, Mignola works in inks and/or pencil. He often works in black and white. In fact, many of the original "Hellboy" comics were in black and white before color was later added. Thanks for taking the time to comment, Beth
