Memories of the Past
Inuyasha was sitting up in the Sacred Tree. He seemed really deep in thought.
Actually he was. He was thinking about what Myoga had told him after meeting...her...
Flashback:
"Master Inuyasha, I must inform you that she is the one. Once you become of age, your demon side will want to find a mate and will recognize her as your life-long mate." Myoga told the stubborn hanyou.
"Keh! That wench? I doubt it Myoga. She's just some priestess girl. Besides hanyous are hated creatures who never find mates. We're destined to live alone. I learned that when Mother died." came the gruff reply of the hanyou clad in red.
Myoga hopped up upon his master's shoulder.
"Remember, I've warned you that she IS your mate-to-be. Once you give it time, you'll see I'm right." with that, the flea was picked up by his new way of transportation, a crow.
"Feh! Like that girl would become my mate! Stupid Myoga."
End Flashback
Ever since that day that he met her, Inuyasha's life was never the same. Even though he thought, no, knew that no hanyou had ever had a mate he was supprised that he had fallen in love with her.
His ears twitched at the sound of a young woman's laughter accompanied by a group of children's giggles.
Inuyasha glanced down to see about five young children, including Shippo gather around and chase Kagome in their game.
"Lady Kagome! Lady Kagome!" One girl called and tackled the laughing priestess to the ground.
Once on the ground, all the children started to tickle her.
Laughing even harder and tears streaming down her eyes, Kagome shouted in a playful manner.
"Okay! Okay! I give! You guys win!!!"
Inuyasha's heart warmed at the sight. He loved how Kagome looked when she smiled, or how good she was with kids. All of the village loved Kagome. Everyone knew her and would talk to her at any chance to ask her about something or the village girls would come to her for advice when they were confused.
One of the oldest boys in the group sat next to Kagome who finally was able to steady her breathing.
"Lady Kagome, are you gonna stay in the village with us?" he asked hopefully.
Inuyasha payed close attention, he wanted to know the answer to that too.
Kagome was silent for a moment but then answered.
"I wish I could, but as you all know, I'm helping Inuyasha complete the Shikon-No-Tama. After I've completed my mission...I'm going home. But I don't think I'm leaving any time soon."
"But, Lady Kagome, none of us want you to leave!" One of the youngest girls said.
"Yeah! We love you!" they all said and threw themselves onto her and hugged her.
Kagome chuckled.
"And I love you all too." she said.
"Then stay with us." Shippo pushed.
"I'm sorry children...but I can't." Kagome felt like she was going to cry but she forced all of the tears back.
Inuyasha noticed this though, he wanted nothing more than to jump down from the tree and hold her. He couldn't believe it. She was going to leave him? After all they had been through so far?
"Is there anything that would make you stay with us?"
Silence followed as Kagome contemplated that for a moment and smiled.
"Well...there is one thing..." she answered.
"What is it?" All of the kids asked together.
Kagome got up and lifted up one of the boys and started to dance with him as he laughed.
"If my prince came to me and declared his undying love for me." She started dreamily as all of the kids watched with shining eyes at her dream.
"And swept me off of my feet with his sweet words, and held me close..." she let down the smiling and giggling boy but she started to twirl again.
"Then what?" one girl asked, who was completely entranced by Kagome's fairytail like wish.
"Then, he would kiss me for the first time. But not just any kiss. No. It would be unlike any other. As soon as our lips touched I would hear music, feel warmth inside my heart, I would see explosions of light and colors!"
