Speed Racer's been training intensely for The Crucible, a treacherous cross-country rally that begins in a few weeks. At the urging of his girlfriend Trixie, he decides to take the weekend off for a little rest and relaxation. But, when you're the fastest guy on wheels, a weekend off can quickly turn into a thrilling adventure. Whether it's a rival after his records, or Mr. Royalton, the maniacal owner of wanna-be Racer X sponsor Royalton Industries, it seems like everyone's gunning for Speed.

Tell the tale of what happens when Speed attempts to have a relaxing weekend that skids off-track.

By the time Swordplay was wrapping up, there was still so much more of the story to tell. Who was Jacqueline? Was she a simple farm girl as she had been raised to believe? Or did her cross necklace and her brother's last words suggest that she had a different origin? SOTC takes the tale the whole distance and explores these unanswered questions.

This is my choice for Maryilee's "Most Brilliant Chapter" contest. As requested, my reasons: it's rich in description, has a gripping pace and well thought out transitions. It answers how the mechanics of Mazarin's sanctum work. Siroc (Mark Hildreth, the first speaking part in POTC3) is one of the fan's favorites. Lastly, this chapter was well received by YB fans and is my beta's favorite.

There is a story in the Bible that tells of no victorious battle or giant subdued. Its theme is one of anguish - pain etched onto the heart of God - demonstrated through the loyal servant, Hosea. Embedded within this tale of sorrow, we learn of God's love and offer of redemption to the unlikely canditate - anyone desiring a second chance of life.
