Chapter 1: Welcome to Ouran!
Sakura Kirameki tugged on her blondish-pink hair as she gazed out at the rising sun. She was leaning her head on the dirty window of an old run-down bus, planning on what she would do with her miserable life next. 'Where is her family?' you might ask. Well...that's another story...far more complicated than this one. She snapped out of her daze as the bus jerked to a stop. She checked the welcome sign above: 'Welcome to Tokyo!'
"Hai." she nodded "Next stop, Bunkyo, Tokyo."
In the Bunkyo ward, was a very prestigious private school, going by the name of Ouran Private Academy. Sakura heard it was expensive, but she was determined to get in that school. She would be enrolling late, which would cost more money than the starting day, but she was sure with the amount she had, she could afford about a year's tuition.
Sakura was sure just a year, her freshman year, was all she needed. She would woo the admins with her intellect.
'I'm sure they don't expect a blonde girl from Osaka to have much brains.' she smirked. 'I mustn't get distracted. I have to keep on my toes and stay focused! I'll show them...'
A couple minutes passed after that last thought. The bus was screeching to a stop, and a grin crept over her face. She made it to Bunkyo and was headed straight for Ouran!
She hoisted on her backpack, and lugged her suitcase through the suprisingly spacious city. With her head held as high as her hopes, Sakura pressed foreward. She imagined all the kids there would be know-nothing rich snobs, with that interpretation, she planned on not making any friends. She also figured the guys there would be shallow and idiotic, so she planned on not falling in love. . .that, she kept most in mind.
'Don't be foolish, Sakura. You're not a victim of cliche's anymore...there's no such thing as 'Mr. Right', 'Soulmates', or 'The One'. Just hurry up and graduate and prove them all wrong.' She huffed, gripping her suitcase handle tighter. Lost in thought, she didn't even see where she was going. She suddenly bumped hard into someone.
"Oww..."
"Aah..."
She opened her eyes after her butt hit the ground. After taking a good look around, she widely smiled. 'It's the campus! I've made it!' She glanced down at the person she bumped into and sneered. He had reddish-brown spiky hair, and golden eyes. Picking up her things she saw him tower over her.
"You should really watch where you're going." he scowled, handing her the school pamphlet she dropped.
She locked eyes with him and snatched it back. "Thanks, I'll consider getting a seeing-eye dog to warn me when another person's coming my way."
"I wasn't calling you blind. I was just saying, look out." he crossed his arms, giving her an 'I really don't have time for this' expression.
An anime vein-pop appeared on her head. "Well if you don't mind, I'd rather you not say anything." she snapped, getting in his face. He narrowed his eyes at her, as if he were fighting back hurtful things to say.
Sakura figured it was over, but once she began walking away, he turned and mumbled, "Well, aren't you pleasant...I just got to meet the new class lunatic."
"Listen, buddy, if you've got somethin' to say, then just say it." she spun around, raising her voice just a little. He turned back to her, hands behind his back and an aloof expression on his face. Sakura's eyebrow raised. He wasn't saying anything. The boy just stood there, blinking like an idiot.
"Hn, like I thought." she cut her eyes away from him. "Asshole."
"Oh! You wanted me to speak then, huh? 'Cause before I thought you didn't want me saying anything." he mocked, wailing his hands in front of him. Another vein popped up on her head. She gritted her teeth and was about to insult him to high heaven, but soon remembered what she came here for, and held it back, like he did. She let out a breath and continued to the main office.
"Hmmm, like I thought!" he mimicked her, actually cupping his hands by his mouth for her to hear. She had her sights set on just getting through the year with good grades, but now realized with 'these type of people' here, it would be difficult. Still, she wasn't about to back down.
