Going On

How do you keep going when your world is upside down?

(WIP-Ch 12 is up) Warning: Character Death. SaraNick. SaraWarrick friendship?

Submitter Notes: This is VERY different from anything I have written before. There is tragedy involved and this is your warning, however I hope you still give it a try. I am also curious to know what you think about this, so please review. Spoilers for 'Stalker', although with a slight twist. Disclaimer: I do not own CSI.

Prologue

-12 years ago-

Sara had just dropped Nick off at his house with strict instructions to get some rest. His week had been pretty bad so far, and unknown to either of them more was coming.

It started with Jane Galloway's murder. It had taken an eerie turn for him when he received an email with one of the crime scene photos attached. The email claimed to be from an old girlfriend, but the communication she had sent did not include the photo.

Then it got even worse when looking through Nigel Crane's home. Warrick had been outside on his cell phone leaving Nick alone inside what they thought was an empty home. Nigel Crane came out of seemingly nowhere and struggled with Nick, eventually sending out the window.

He was lucky. He was very, very lucky. That thought kept running through Sara's mind as she walked down the hall towards the AV lab. However when she opened the door that thought leaped out when she realized what everyone was watching.

She immediately recognized the home on the video they were watching. "Oh shit," she said under her breath, and then continued out loud, "What's going on?" He voice was shaking slightly.

"These videos were found in Nigel Crane's home. We are using them to figure out where we can locate him." Grissom responded.

"That's Nick's house," she said.

"She's right," Warrick said as he took a closer look.

"How do you know?" Catherine asked.

"I think I know," Archie chimed in and they all looked at the screen in time to see Nick and Sara making out on his couch.

Oh god, this is not happening, she thought.

Thankfully Grissom saved her from further embarrassment by calling Brass to get some uniforms to Nick's house and he as well as Catherine, Warrick, and Sara drove to his house as well.
