Double the Doctor, Double the Fun - Part Two
Can two Time Lords get into twice as much trouble? Read and find out.
The latest incarnation of the Doctor teams up with his fourth regeneration in order to once again battle the Master. Little did they know that they would encounter an even greater foe along the way.
Part Two “Aaaaaaaaaarrrrgghhh!!!” The Black Guardian, paralyzed by excruciating pain, writhed against the invisible bonds upon which the Master had imprisoned him. Acceding momentary defeat he stepped back from the barrier separating him from his captor. “Why have you turned on me? I thought we had an agreement!” The Master had approached the Black Guardian many years ago and had offered his services in exchange for extending his life past his twelfth regeneration. The Guardian agreed, seeing in the Master the perfect tool to spread chaos and disorder throughout the universe. And if he just happened to cross paths with that meddlesome Doctor then maybe he could finally get some long deserved payback.
He thought all of his investments had finally come to fruition when the Master faced down his nemesis on Earth but he was once again disappointed. With the help of the Doctor’s irritating assistants, Martha and Captain Jack, they were once again able to save the world and defeat the Master, bringing about his death in the process.
Never one to let a valuable asset go to waste, the Black Guardian seized the Master’s soul at the moment of his death and created a proper vessel in which it could be housed. The Master’s new body was human in appearance but contained a miniscule fragment of the Black Guardian’s essence, which was necessary to join the soul to the new body.
What the Black Guardian didn’t anticipate, however, was that he had now given the Master an avenue of access to the Black Guardian’s own powers. In an unexpected move the Master turned on the Guardian and used his own powers to entrap him.
“Why I think it would be obvious to one such as yourself. I believe it’s time for a change in administration. You will soon become obsolete.” The Master exited the room leaving a trail of laughter in his wake.

“Yup, he’s a Time Lord. I can hear two heartbeats. Who do you think he is?” Romana asked as she withdrew the stethoscope from the stranger’s chest.
The doctor leaned over the prone man again, scrutinizing his face. The edge of his scarf brushed up against the other Time Lord. “He doesn’t look familiar. Then again, he could be someone I know who’s regenerated.”
“Ah chooo!” The Doctor sneezed and woke up as the scarf tickled his nose. “Do you mind?” He flicked the scarf away and it promptly fell back into his face. He sneezed again.
The Fourth Doctor stood up and wrapped his scarf about his neck. “Sorry about that. Who are you by the way and how did you get in my TARDIS?”
“Ah… I am the Doctor, Doctor - your tenth regeneration to be more specific. I was sent here by the White Guardian.”
“Tenth regeneration, eh? Getting a little long in the tooth are we?”
The Doctor stood up in indignation. “I’ll have you know that I am in the best possible shape for a 903 year-old man.”
“Good for you, old boy. Glad to see I haven’t mellowed out in my old age. White Guardian, you say? Are you certain he wasn’t just the Black Guardian in disguise? He’s quite the tricky trans-dimensional being, that one. If you’re really me then where’s your TARDIS?”
“The White Guardian wouldn’t let me take it with me. He gave me this.” He produced the amulet. “It allowed me to travel to your location. As for the true identity of the Guardian, I asked myself the same question.” He paused dramatically before delivering his one-two punch. “I believe he was telling the truth because he needs us to rescue the Black Guardian… from the Master. We have to stop him before he finds a way to steal the Black Guardian’s powers.”
