Los Angeles was in ruins.

Everyone was fleeing Los Angeles, fleeing from the demons that had ravaged the town, killing citizens randomly. The road out of Los Angeles was jam-packed with cars, filled with people trying to escape the madness. The demons had not bothered to come after the cars, but people still pressed on their car horn urgently, trying to escape the devastation behind them.

Only one single vehicle was headed towards Los Angeles: a large bus. Without any other cars on that same road into Los Angeles, the bus careened into the city without any interference.

At the wheel, Faith drove manically, laughing like she was having the time of her life. Which probably was what she was experiencing right now.

Beside Faith, Buffy glanced out at the devastation around them with determined eyes. Oh god, Angel, Buffy thought. Be safe.

That was the reason why Buffy, Faith, Willow, Giles, and Xander were here. Buffy had heard about Angel’s stand against Wolfram and Hart, about how he was going to take down a powerful group called the Circle of the Black Thorn. Buffy was determined to help Angel.

As the bus passed the ruins of the Los Angeles airport, Buffy was reminded off why they had to take a bus to Los Angeles. The Los Angeles airport was totally destroyed and there were no flights to Los Angeles. So Buffy and the others had taken a plane to the nearest airport instead, and Faith had hot-wired this bus and had driven to Los Angeles.

In the back, Willow and Xander sat in silence. When Buffy turned back to look at them, the sight of Xander’s eye patch over his left eye struck a pang of regret into Buffy’s heart. Two years ago, when the Scooby gang was defending Sunnydale from the First and its demonic army, it had taken a heavy toll on everyone, Xander most of all. The First’s right hand man, a preacher named Caleb, had blinded Xander’s left eye. Luckily, Caleb had been stopped before he could do the same to Xander’s right eye.

Sunnydale...The very mention of that word brought back memories of Buffy’s home for seven long years, of all the evil that had taken place there, just a two-hour drive away from Los Angeles. If anyone went there now, all they would find was just a huge pit in the middle of the desert. Sunnydale was gone, the Hellmouth under it sealed away forever.

Along with Willow, Xander, Giles, and Faith, Buffy had also brought along some Slayers: Vi, Rona, and Kennedy. These three Slayers had aided her in her final battle, and they were some of the few that survived.

At the back of the bus, Andrew chattered incessantly, trying to talk to Rona and Kennedy, whom were ignoring him. The only reason Buffy had brought him along was because he had met Angel when he and Spike had stopped by Rome. Buffy had given Andrew a good thrashing when she found out about that and also because he had not told her about it.

Spike... Buffy was reminded of the other reason why she was here. She had to see Spike, to find some kind of closure with him.

Suddenly, Faith swore and Buffy’s attention snapped back to the road in front of them.

A group of demons, two Fyarl demons, a Polgara, and two vampires, ran out into the road in front of them, intent on stopping the bus and killing all the inhabitants in it.

Buffy tensed, ready for battle.
