Chapter 1
This is a post ep for blind spot; it's about the drive home from the hospital, so it's called The Drive Home. Thanks for reading.
Summary: He never drove and then for the first time in her life she realized she isn't bullet proof.
The Drive HomeAlex Eames rests her head on the pillow; just for moment… she sits up when her partner Bobby Goren walks in.
"You know you really don't have to drive me home, I can get my dad to." But Bobby will have none of it, he shakes his head.
"It's f-fine, it's the least I can do." Alex stands, a little wobbly at first but she gains her balance in a rush when she sees Bobby coming towards her.
"I'm going to walk out of here Goren, without any help." She warns and he backs off. The doctor walks in with a nurse pushing a wheelchair behind him, Alex groans.
"There's no way I'm going in that." She says to her doctor. The doctor smiles a little.
"Well you can stay…" Alex closes the distance between the wheelchair and her. She would rather do this then stay in this place. Bobby's eyes widen, he can't actually believe she is doing what the doctor asked, and she rolls her eyes and turns to the nurse.
"Let's get out of here." She says and the nurse nods.
"Thanks doc." Alex says as she is being pushed out of the room. Suddenly the chair stops and the nurse rounds the chair to face her.
"I just have to grab the patient chart, won't be a minute." Alex nods silently and when the nurse is out of sight she stands up turning to Bobby waving her arm like crazy.
"Well come on Bobby, this is our chance." She says and he smiles. They make it into the elevator without being spotted. She lets out a breath and smiles at her partner.
"That was close."
"Yeah." A minute later they are outside and getting into the car. Alex leans in the car door, pressing her forehead against the glass. She takes a quick glance at Bobby as they start to drive off.
He never drives, and for the first time in Alex's life she realizes she isn't bullet proof. After being a cop for so long and never being hurt it can kind of go to your head. It's happens to the best of them, her father told her one day as he sat by her bed in the hospital. She closes her eyes, she can almost smell it again, no that is lying she can smell it.
Fear… It's a tool she has seen used for horrible crimes, it's a tool she has always seen on the other side and always thought she would see on the other side.
"Alex?" She blinks a couple of times and lifts her head to Bobby.
"Yeah?"
"You'll be ok." Somehow he read her thoughts without even looking at her, but then being each others partner for so long a person kind of gains a six sense to what the other person is feeling. Just like she can when he is around Nicole Wallace, although she always lets him tango with her himself she can tell when he is at breaking point, or when he is on top of things. She rests her head back against the window when they suddenly go over a bump to fast and Alex swears as her head collides with the window.
She turns to Bobby who is trying to put on an innocent looking face.
"No wonder I don't let you drive."
I love this story. The best part…
