A Pile of Leaves

One year. It had been a whole year since the War. Since the final battle that had scarred the wizarding world and left so many broken.

Ginny Weasley stepped off the train, searching the crowd expectantly. A smile spread over her face as she found what, or rather who, she was looking for. Leaving her trunk, she threw herself into his arms.

“Hello beautiful.” Startling green eyes smiled down at her. Messy black hair brought a wry grin to her face.

“Mmm.” He kissed her deeply.

“I missed you.”

“I missed you too.”

“Oi! What are you doing?” Ron yelled. His girlfriend jabbed him with her elbow. “Ow! That hurt ‘Mione.”

“He’s kissing his girlfriend.”

“He’s kissing my little sister.”

“Hello Ron.” Ginny hugged him tightly. “But little sister is all grown up.”

“ I am so glad to see you Gin!” Hermione enveloped her in a huge hug. “How does it feel to be done?”

Ginny grinned happily. “Great! Though it’s hard to believe all my seven years are over.” She was never going to return to Hogwarts as a student again.

“Hello dear!” Mrs. Weasley smiled, walking towards them with a wiggling toddler in her arms.

“Mum, and Teddy!” She laughed as his hair changed from green to the same red as hers, then to his usual turquoise. Harry threaded his fingers through hers and they all headed for the Burrow.

~Four Months Later~

“Ginny!” Harry yelled up the stairs, quite a feat in the Burrow.

“I’m coming!” The short red head bounced down the stairs. Her whole face lit up when she saw him waiting for her.

“Where are we going?”

Harry gave her a secretive smile. “You’ll see.” He apparated her to a beautiful forest. The October leaves were deep gold, red, and brown. Ginny loved fall.

“This is beautiful Harry.” She breathed softly, taking in her surroundings.

“I love autumn because of you.” He gazed down at her, not seeing anything else. “Your hair and your eyes match the season. So beautiful, so perfect.”

She smiled broadly, standing in his embrace. “Thank you Harry, that means a lot to me.”

Hand in hand, they strolled along. Ginny would kick up leaves with her feet and giggle. Harry was entranced by the beautiful picture the love of his life was presenting him. When she saw a huge pile of leaves, Harry knew exactly what she would do. Had known when he’d made the pile earlier that day.

Laughing, she jumped in the middle of them. Harry grinned and knelt beside her. “I love you, Ginevra Weasley.” He moved so he was on one knee, her eyes widened. “For the rest of your life, I want to be like that pile of leaves. I want you to know you can fall into me and I’ll be there. Will you marry me?”

Ginny’s honey brown eyes were huge and her mouth round with shock. She stared at the ring he had produced. Slowly she smiled, looking into his loving, nervous, eyes.

“I love you Harry Potter. Yes, I will marry you.”

Grinning, he slipped the ring on her finger. Kneeling beside her in the pile of leaves, he kissed her softly.

“I will always love you.” She knew he was telling her the truth. Her very own leaves of love.
