10 Wheel of Fortune

Hmm. I thought I commented on this one already, but I guess not.

You're really getting good at having the opening lines sum up the card meaning. Sphinx-like is right. The Wheel of Fortune is like a puzzle, a riddle, you never know whether you're gonna get lucky-- whether you're gonna get the lady or the tiger--er--lion. And yet, at the same time, those sphinx guardians are a call back to both the strength and chariot cards--the idea that you ultimately are partially responsible for wherever the wheel lands.

I like how you shifted the emphasis from the Sphinx in the 'upright' poem (as the onlooker, the guardian, perhaps the one that is responsible for spinning the wheel) to the actual wheel in the 'reversed' poem. There's a sense of powerlessness here where you have no choice but to go with the flow--where you cannot transcend and 'sit above the spin and drama' but are rather taking along for the ride.

These subtle nuanaces and attention to detail are what really make these poems so wonderful, Beth.

Okay, you're making my brain hurt with this one, I have to think so deeply. ;-) Very nice. It seems like all the cards have double meanings, good and bad, positve and negative, etc.
