"Looks like Jopierce walked on the field just in time for tryouts." Eric scanned over the player profile, not looking up at Coach McGill who was standing near his desk. "Take a look over that, but think I've made up my mind on this kid."

McGill grabbed the portfolio, opening it to the front page. "Looks like they are full of wit."

"Oh yeah, tons of it. Lot's of good one liners in it. I love the bit about all of the letters. MIB, CIA, AIM. I also like their trip to New Mexico to see the UFO crash site. This author has what it takes. I'm glad they got in on the competition just in time."

"Same here, Eric. What great talent."

I like the descriptions in this, they're fun and witty at the same time. Also, these two quotes stood out at me the most:

"Elwood wasn’t sure, but he assumed that the man was telling him the name of a tribe. But it could have been his name, for all he knew. Unsure what to say in response, Elwood simply offered up the name of his own tribe."

I never thought of his life in that way, but yeah, Blues does seem to be the family name and culture rolled into one, doesn't it? :)

"You did all sorts of crazy things for the people you love. You robbed and cheated and got into bar fights. You held up gas stations. You postponed trips to alien crash sites, even if it was the best way to hide out from the feds. You lied to your brother, and told him the band was still together. You had to lie, to give him hope while he was locked up in the slam. You had to tell him something was waiting for him when he got out."

That paragraph really rocked out of all of the paragraphs in this one-shot. I can definitely imagine Elwood doing this, even if he doesn't always make the best choices. Lovely job here.
