Well first of all I am unfamiliar with the fandom at all, but I have been following the stories ok. What impressed me most about your story, since I am unfamilar, was the history and detail you managed to add here and there to catch me up. I really didn't feel as lost with that. I was able to see Trixie and her short brown hair, know about his older brother, know who was who all around. This would have been a good story without all of the little bits of information you added, but for someone unfamiliar it really sealed the deal and made it that much greater. I think when a lot of people write within a fandom they leave out those obvious facts that other fandom readers would automatically know, but I found it very satisfying that you didn't leave that out, and clued us unknowers in. For the story itself, it was a fun read. You had a nemesis, action, mischief - all great aspects to any story. And there was a nice moral lesson here as well. Great job and good luck!

I know nothing about Speed Racer ( so, sue me!)..but the entries into this contest has certainly opened my eyes. I loved this version! So much packed into so little pages is not an easy thing to do! You have given me a real reason to go see the movie! Great writing, as always!

Speed Racer's speed writer - aka Jean. What's funny is I just got back from watching Speed Racer (day off and all), and then came back and read this. So, I hear Christina Ricci's voice for Trixie and John Goodman for Pops. And you managed to write so much in four short pages, but made yet another wonderful adventure. And who says staying up to 3 a.m. to write is 'nuts'? Nice job!

I really enjoyed this. It was a totally fun read and very much in the spirit of Speed Racer. I have to agree with cathrl about glossing over the action and just describing the before and after. You limited your words without limiting the excitement and that's difficult to do. Nice work all around.

Great job with this! I like that this was a complete story and didn't feel too rushed or anything. My only question is, and I know you needed them to drive two separate cars for the plot to work, but it didn't make sense that they were driving two separate cars to the same place. Maybe you had them give a reason and had to edit it out, I know someone else had a similar problem with the trying to meet the character limits.

Anyway, you made this about as interesting as Speed Racer can be for me. lol. (that's saying a lot since I haven't watched an episode since I was probably 10 or so.)
