I really enjoyed following Lee's journey from losing Kara to getting her back again. I could feel his pain and it was perfect that, at the end there, he'd come around to talking to her in his head like the friend she was (is), rather than fighting against it. And, of course, it really is typical that Kara showed up again in his life, right after he more or less accepted that she was gone. The gods are irritating like that. ;) Thank you for sharing this!

When I started reading, I was looking for that slow progression, the march through denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. And it was there, to a certain extent, but more fittingly, there was also distraction (via the trial), which was so much more of a Lee way of dealing with the issue. So nice job with that.

And on a side note, this fic made me realize that, hey, of course Dee didn't leave Lee because of the trial. Looking at the character, he was probably lying awake for most of the night, every night after Kara blew up. And it probably got to be too much (as Dee wondered if Lee would react like that if it'd been her, instead), and the trial just offered an excuse. I find that so much more satisfying an excuse than the one the show implied (which I think made no sense for Dee's character).

But anyway, nice job, as always.

I'm going to agree with xtinek that you did a great job with personalities and dialogue, but I also want to add that while the guinea pig was amusing, what I really liked was the unexpected (and undesired) effect it had on Kara. She's always so hard as nails about never showing "softer" emotions (we only really ever saw that stuff in flashbacks with Zak, and in Anders scenes before she was actually able to have him), but it's clear that they're there. So nice job hitting upon that character element.
